Jetta club regular Mika Korkeamäki had to defend from a hard charging Adam Miles to take the win at Silverstone International.
This is the second win Korkeamäki has taken in a row, cementing him as one of the fastest drivers to race in the Shark Racing Jetta club. Miles was just 01.321 second behind at the finish, in a race which saw the two banging panels as they fought for the victory.
Korkeamäki secured pole with a time of 1:37.424, just under three hundredths of a second faster than Miles. Korkeamäki and pulled out a gap, but towards the later stages of the race Miles started to catch up. Korkeamäki had a big moment going into Copse, after getting a wheel on the grass under braking. This put Miles right up behind him for the final third of the race.
However the two drivers came together as Miles lost the back end going into Maggots, and slammed into the rear of Korkeamäki’s VW TDI Jetta. Both cars had slight damage, but rejoing the circuit with Korkeamäki still leading and Miles just a couple of seconds behind him.
The drivers were within 2 seconds of eachother as they entered the final laps, but it was Korkeamäki who came through to win by 01.321 seconds. Fastest lap went to Korkeamäki with a time of 1:37.442.
Elsewhere in the field, Michael Messenger finished third with Julian Dyer and Phillip Ellis in 4th and 5th place after a chaotic battle. All the drivers had incidents at Priory a couple of laps from the end, resulting in damage on all three cars.
