Racer Steven Jones took a dominant victory in the Shark Racing Jetta race at the New York track.
With a qualifying time of 1:23.849 seconds, pole man Jones was perfectly placed to control the race from the front.
Jones was followed home by James A. Barrington who was just 4.226 seconds behind, after overtaking Blake Townend in the early stages of the race.
Verner Blindheim who started 8th, made up positions from Graeme Harris and Andrew Birch and finished a credible 5th position under a second behind 4th place man Stephen Nelson.
Graeme Harris and Andrew Birch were just 4 tenths of a second apart as they come over the line, in 6th and 7th respectively.
Jones crossed the line with 15 laps led, and Blake Townend had the fastest lap time of 1:23.791.

Was a great race to be a part of. New track for me, but in a car I’m getting more and more comfortable with. Managed to get a good lap in qualifying to put me in 5th, and set up a great mid-field with Stephen Nelson, Verner Blindheim and Graeme Harris.
With identical cars, a fast flowing track with few opportunities to gain (or lose) time, it made for ultra-close racing. Ultimately the guy who made the fewest mistakes (and by mistakes, I mean running two foot wide at an apex) would win the battles.
Looking forward to more Jetta battles over the next few weeks in this great series.
Great race, with very close racing throughout the whole field. Started in 6th and managed to take a place after the first corner. I was able to stay in Blakes draft for the first 3 or 4 laps giving me a 2 second cushion behind me to 5th place who i think was Andy at the time. Unfortunately it felt like i tore the tyres up a bit trying to hold onto Blakes pace (fast).
From about lap 5 i was looking behind me instead of infront and the gap by around lap 10 was less than a second. I just couldn’t get the last corner right allowing the 3 cars behind me to get right on my bumper through the first corner and up the hill. Andy got inside me a few times on the first corner and with help to a bit of off road driving I managed to keep my place and bring it home in 4th. Great fun and very clean racing.
I had a good, if rather quiet race from the back of the field. The cars are so even that if you drop back at the start, its hard to catch up. Looks like I just need to work on my pace!
