Blake Townend takes Laguna win from 6th

Jettas racing a Laguna Seca

Jetta Club regular Blake Townend drove from 6th on the grid to take the win at the Laguna Seca circuit.

After a poor qualifying, Townend had it all to play for from the third row of the grid. By the end first couple of laps, he was in to third position, chasing down Steven Jones.

On lap 3 he passed Jones who fell back several places and rejoined in 5th position. On lap 7 he passed race leader and pole man Edward Deadman to take a lead that he would hold until the end of the race. Deadman was just 5.460 seconds behind him as they crossed the finish line.

Battle for the lead at Laguna Seca

Simon Trendell finished third, followed by Javier Oyarbide in 4th position. James A Barrington who had started in a strong 4th position fell down the field but managed to recover to 8th

Contact into the first corner at Laguna Seca

Shark Racing driver Julian Dyer started 8th and moved up to 6th, before a hard charging Nigel Morrison made contact going into the first corner. Dyer and Verner Blindheim then battled, with Blindheim eventually getting past. Both Blindheim and Morrison were penalised later in the race for corner cutting, allowing Dyer to finish in 5th position.

Townend took the chequered flag after 15 laps, as well as the fastest lap of the race with a 1:41.984 on his second loop of the circuit.
